Together, we’ll outline the key steps to create a meaningful and sustainable implementation plan, with resources to guide you in developing your own approach. You'll explore practical strategies for empowering colleagues, engaging key community and team members, and tracking data to measure progress and impact. Plus, join Zones founder Leah Kuypers and implementation specialist Emily Walz for an exclusive panel on lessons learned and best practices for schoolwide implementation of The Zones of Regulation. Get ready to confidently lead the way in creating a systematic and sustainable implementation! Powerpoint, case examples, lecture and live panel discussion will be used to support instruction. Questions can be submitted in advance of the course.

Anyone interested in leading The Zones of Regulation implementation at the Tier-1 level. This is an Intermediate level course. Basic knowledge of the Zones of Regulation is recommended.

Emily Walz, MS Ed.
Emily Walz is a licensed Special Education Teacher (M.S.Ed) with over 20 years of experience in the field of education. She spent the first 15 years of her career teaching special education and leading social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives in New York City and the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. Emily’s role as Director of Instruction at The Zones of Regulation allows her to use her rich experience to be hands-on in developing curriculum content and training for Zones leaders, as well as consulting with schools, districts, and organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Passionate about emotional regulation as a cornerstone for well-being, Emily designs inclusive instructional experiences for both youth and adults across settings and tiers of support. She lives on a sunny corner in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her husband and two children.

Leah Kuypers, MA Ed., OTR/L
Leah Kuypers, MA Ed., OTR/L is the author of The Zones of Regulation® Digital Curriculum (zonesofregulation.com, 2024) and Getting Into The Zones of Regulation: The Complete Framework and Digital Curriculum Companion. (Think Social Publishing, 2024) Kuypers is an internationally recognized trainer, consultant and speaker on regulation and social emotional learning.
While working in public schools as an occupational therapist and autism resource specialist, Leah Kuypers encountered learners of all ages with diverse needs. Recognizing that difficulties with regulation skills often had a significant impact on learners’ adaptive functioning and overall well-being, Kuypers created The Zones of Regulation, a systematic and practical approach to fostering regulation skills. The first edition book, published in 2011 has sold more than 400,000 copies around the world.
The Zones of Regulation Digital Curriculum, released in July 2024, has already been implemented in 40 countries. The Zones team also trained more than 8,000 educators and practitioners worldwide in 2024 alone.
