Belinda Daughrity, PhD, CCC-SLP – Live interactive webinar. Dr. Daughrity will discuss the considerations for culturally, linguistically diverse families during assessment and intervention, specific to autism and review strategies to help provide culturally responsive care. This is an interactive “live-stream”. You will be able to ask questions throughout the webinar as well as “chat” with other participants via the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Culturally Responsive Counseling and Autism will review considerations for culturally, linguistically diverse families during assessment and intervention. Attendees will review resources and strategies to support families and provide culturally responsive care.
Who should attend?
The intended audience includes educators and therapists working with children and adults in early intervention, preschool, school and community settings, parents, social workers, psychologists and administrators. This conference is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
Speaker
Belinda Daughrity, PhD, CCC-SLP
Belinda Daughrity earned her B.A. in English and Spanish from Spelman College, M.A. in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from New York University, and Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Human Development and Psychology from University of California Los Angeles. She specializes in autism clinical practice and research. Dr. Daughrity has focused on clinical treatment of autism in early intervention and school-age populations for culturally and linguistically diverse populations. In 2022, she co-authored a textbook published by Wiley Blackwell titled, Autism Spectrum Disorders from Theory to Practice: Assessment and Intervention Tools Across the Lifespan. She serves as National NSSLHA Advisor and a member of the ASHA Board of Directors for 2023-2025. Dr. Daughrity is a member of the American Speech and Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Black Association of Speech-Language and Hearing (NBASLH), and the California Speech-Language and Hearing Association (CSHA). She is a member of Special Interest Group 14: Cultural and Linguistic Diversity. She regularly presents at state and national conferences.Disclosures:
